EVENT SYNOPSIS The first session Introduction to Fundamental Analysis by Calvin Tan, Assistant Director of Research at NUS Invest, will be a step by step guide to analyzing listed companies via financial ratios analysis and common valuation methods. Members will receive a list of useful financial ratios equations (profitability, liquidity, solvency, valuations, etc) and a guide to interpreting these ratios. A case analysis on Singtel will be used to reinforce member’s understanding. The use of common valuation methods like Price Earnings and Price Book ratio to value companies will also be discussed. Members will be able to analyse a company in a quick and efficient way at the end of this session. The second session Introduction to Technical Analysis by Steve Lin and Lim Ting Ping, will go through identification of candlestick chart patterns. Technical Analysis are commonly used by traders and even long-term investors to forecast future direction and trends of stock prices through the study of past market data. Common indicators like the Relative Strength Index (RSI), Directional Movement Index (DMI) by J. Welles Wilder and Moving Average Convergence / Diversion (MACD) by Gerald Appel will be taught during the session.
